2025 SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT RULES

Format: This Tournament is a 4-game guarantee. PGF/NFHS Rules will be followed.

Player Eligibility & Team Rosters: Rosters and Certificate of Insurance must be uploaded in your

Playbook account prior to the start of the tournament.

Rain Outs: Once the tournament has started, there will be no refunds because of bad weather, or any

other reason. If the tournament is completely rained out or canceled for any reason, $100.00 from each

entry fee will be kept by the Tournament Director for expenses, and the remaining amount will be credited

to a future GTS event to be redeemed during the 2025 / 2026 season. THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR

RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CHANGE THE FORMAT OF THE TOURNAMENT IN CASE OF BAD

WEATHER OR ANY OTHER REASON.

Balls

GTS will provide game balls.

Run Rule: (12) runs after 3 innings, (10) runs after 4 innings, (8) runs after 5 innings, (5) runs after 6

innings shall be in effect for both Pool Play and Bracket games.

Score Reporting: The winning team must confirm the final score with the umpire. The umpire will

then report the scorecard to the tournament director upon the game’s completion.

Early Start: Teams should be ready to play 30 minutes prior to the game time, as games could start early

to keep the tournament on schedule.

Lineup:

Coaches can choose if they want to bat 9, bat the entire lineup, or any number over 9.

1. If batting the entire lineup, the courtesy runner for pitcher/catcher is the last batter.

2. If not batting the entire lineup courtesy runner must follow PGF/NFHS rules (must be an eligible

player.)

3. Open substitution defensively.

Pool Play:

12u games will be 6 innings OR 80 minutes drop dead (whichever comes first) NO REVERT BACK.

Pool play can end in a tie. (There will be a one minute warning before 80 min expires)

14u games will be 7 innings OR 80 minutes drop dead. NO REVERT BACK. Pool play can end in a tie.

Bracket

12u bracket play games will be 6 innings OR 80 minutes, finish the inning. If there is no winner after 80

minutes, the international tie breaker will be in effect. (The last out of the previous inning will be placed

at second base with no outs. The batter will start with a fresh count.)

14u bracket play games will be 7 innings OR 80 minutes, finish the inning. If there is no winner after 80

minutes, the international tie breaker will be in effect. (The last out of the previous inning will be placed

at second base with no outs. The batter will start with a fresh count.

Championship Game

12u will play a full 6 innings, NO TIME LIMIT. Run rules will still be in effect. If there is no winner

declared after 6 complete innings, international tie breaker rules are in effect until there is a winner.

14u will play a full 7 innings, NO TIME LIMIT. Run rules will still be in effect. If there is no winner

declared after 7 complete innings, international tie breaker rules are in effect until there is a winner.

Miscellaneous:

1. No infield or batting practice is allowed between games on the fields. Teams must be warmed up and

ready to play after the prior game is completed.

2. No soft toss against any fence is allowed.

3. The umpires’ decisions will be final. There are no protests.

4. Each team’s official scorer must verify runs scored with the umpire after each 1⁄2 inning. 5. The score

of any forfeited game will be 6-0.

6. There are no dugout assignments. First come, first serve.

7. In pool play, the home team will be decided by a coin flip. In bracket play, the higher seed has the

choice of home or visitors. If teams are of the same seed, a coin flip will determine the home team. 8. If

you bat everyone, last batted out may be used for courtesy runner; otherwise, courtesy runner is by

book rule.

9. Pitchers – PGF rules are START BACK, not step back.

10. 1 minute between innings

11. Vacate dugout immediately after the game for the next team

12. Tie-Breakers for Seeding Purposes:

1. 1st: Head-to-head competition

2. 2nd: Least runs allowed

3. 3rd: Most runs scored

4. 4th: Coin flip

*If there is a 3-way tie, Head-to-head is not in effect.
